iRacing takes a leap forward with the introduction of the Gen 3 Supercars, blending cutting-edge design with intense competition.
iRacing has officially brought the Gen 3 Supercars to its platform as part of the 2025 Season 1 update. These cars, designed for close, action-packed racing, are staples of Australia’s premier touring series. Now, they’re ready to challenge drivers in the virtual world with their demanding handling and intense performance.
The Gen 3 regulations marked a turning point in Supercars history. Introduced in 2023, these changes prioritized lowering costs while ensuring cars remained connected to their road-going counterparts. This move also aimed to make racing more competitive and to emphasize driver skill by increasing vehicle difficulty.
Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang has been a Supercars mainstay since 2019, and it carried that momentum into the Gen 3 era. Its standout moments include a victorious debut race under the new regulations at Newcastle in 2023. The Mustang’s dominance continued with multiple wins across major circuits, including a remarkable streak in Adelaide. Chaz Mostert emerged as a leading figure for the Mustang, securing top finishes and maintaining Ford’s strong presence on the leaderboard.
Chevrolet Camaro
With the retirement of the Holden brand, Chevrolet stepped up by introducing the Camaro ZL1. Despite being new to the scene, the Camaro quickly made an impact. In just its second race, the Camaro claimed its first victory at Newcastle, driven by Shane van Gisbergen. That win ignited an incredible 15-race streak, securing Chevrolet its first manufacturers’ championship. The Camaro continued to impress in 2024, with drivers Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown achieving back-to-back driver titles.
iRacing’s Gen 3 Supercars
The addition of Gen 3 Supercars in iRacing gives players a chance to experience the heightened competition and realism these cars bring. Both the Mustang and Camaro offer unique strengths, pushing drivers to find the perfect balance between aggression and control. With the traits and characteristics of these cars, you can guarantee some great online competition.
